Members Make Surprise Visit on National Superhero Day
On April 28, 2025, members of our Emergency Response Team (ERT) made a surprise visit to WRHN @ Midtown (formerly Grand River Hospital).
In celebration of National Superhero Day, the team wanted to bring some joy and put a smile on everyone’s face. Their unexpected visit was a fun and uplifting gesture that brightened the day for staff and patients.

Welcome, New Police Service Dog
We are proud to welcome a new police service dog to our Canine Team. WRPS members and members of the community voted on three potential name options. After more than 3,700 votes, we’re excited to announce the official name is Bauer. Bauer is now headed for training and will officially report for duty later this summer. |

Ride Safe Bike Rodeo: A Day of Fun, Learning, and Safety
On April 26, 2025, we had an incredible day at the Ride Safe Bike Rodeo.
From helmet fittings to bike maintenance, more than 400 participants learned so much about staying safe while enjoying their bikes.

A Flippin’ Good Time at the Elmira Maple Syrup Festival
On April 5, 2025, the pancakes might have been soggier than usual, but it was a great morning at the Elmira Maple Syrup Festival pancake flipping contest.
A special shout-out to the WRPS Pancake Patrol and a huge thank you to our Auxiliary members who volunteered their time to help ensure the safety of all.

Male Charged and Drugs Seized in Cambridge
On April 27, 2025, at approximately 5:15 a.m., officers responded to a report of a dispute in the area of Lena Crescent and Conestoga Boulevard.
During the investigation, officers located one of the involved individuals in a vehicle and in possession of suspected cannabis and psilocybin.
As a result of the investigation, a 30-year-old Cambridge male was arrested and charged with:
- Possession of over 30g of dried cannabis in public place
- Possession of Schedule II – Other Drugs
- Have care and control of vehicle with cannabis readily available
The accused was also issued a 30-day driver’s licence suspension for operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration in the warning range.
